The Azalea District will once again host the Azalea District “Trail of Lights” during Rose City Christmas. You’ve seen the beautiful colors of the Azalea District during the spring, now guests can see the Azalea District come to life, with color, during the holiday season.
Anyone who lives or works in the Azalea District that participates will have the opportunity to win prizes donated by local restaurants and shops including Jack Ryan’s, The Potpourri House, and many others. There will be three winning categories: “Best DIY,” “Most Spectacular,” and “Best Reason for the Season.”
A local tree expert/arborist and Christmas light installer, Steven Harthcock with Tree Guardians, will offer to install lights on your home for 25% off the labor costs. (The cost of lights varies and is not included in the discount.) Contact Steven at (903)805-5002.
Be part of the fun this holiday by decorating your homes for the season. Help to make this Christmas in Tyler’s Azalea District the most colorful one yet!
Enjoy the Azalea District “Trail of Lights” and Other Activities
Visitors can enjoy an open-air shuttle ride through the lights the first three weekends in December, 6-9pm each Friday and Saturday night. Board the shuttle at the Goodman Museum located at 624 N. Broadway in Downtown, then ride through the Downtown square, and continue to the Azalea Trail to enjoy the holiday sights.
In addition, there will be a live nativity scene at the home of Guy and Joan Pyron, 212 W. Dobbs St., December 1st-2nd, 6-8:30pm each night. The Pyron garden is one of the most popular spots along the Azalea Trail during Tyler’s annual Azalea and Spring Flower Trail each spring. This year, for the first time the garden will be transformed into a living nativity scene as part of Rose City Christmas.
“I think since everyone is so busy during the Christmas season this event is more important than ever,” Joan Pyron, host of the event, said. “I hope that the people who visit the live nativity will slow down, enjoy the holidays, and remember the real reason for the season.”
