September 9th-10th – 2017 Rose City Triathlon – Hosted by the East Texas Triathletes, the CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Rose City Triathlon is celebrating its 10th year. Join for a beautiful swim, bike, and run at Lake Tyler. Proceeds benefit Smith County Volunteer Fireman’s Association. The race distances are: 650 meter swim, 13 mile bike, 5k run. September 16th – The “Seriously Fun!” 5K Mud & Obstacle Run hits Tyler! For more info go to mudfactor.com/tyler-2017. This will be held at SWAN MX Raceway Park, 12068 County Road 433, Tyler.

September 23rd – Tyler Gold Run 2017 – This annual chip-timed 5K race and Family Fun Run benefits the Gold Network of East Texas, to support families impacted by Childhood Cancer. This will be held at Rose Rudman Park, Tyler. To register go to secure.getmeregistered.com. You can run as a group or individually. Run or walk for a great cause: to raise money and awareness for Childhood Cancer awareness. All proceeds will go to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.

September 23rd-24th – The Piney Woods Ultra – Run through deep East Texas pine forests on a scenic course underneath towering pines. This diverse, single track course, almost entirely underneath a canopy of 100-foot tall pine timber, will keep you captivated as you navigate rolling hills through rooty and pine needle conditioned trail. Enjoy a post race refreshing swim in the 64-acre spring-fed lake while you rest and recover. As home to the forest race in this eco series, you won’t want to miss this unique chance to run with deer through the deep piney wood forests of Eastern Texas. September 30th – ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/WalkTyler will be held at 8:30am at Faulkner Park. For more info go to zeroprostatecancerrun.org/tyler.

October 7th – Corkscrew Half, 10k, and 5k – iTRI365 is bringing a half marathon to Kiepersol Estates. For half marathon runners the route will only be in the vineyard the last quarter mile to the finish line. 5k and 10k participants will enjoy a more scenic, yet challenging, route through the estates and vineyard, however, less than 50% of either race will be on trail. Runners will get the best of both worlds! Be prepared for relaxing and enjoyable post-race festivities, including the pouring of Kiepersol’s own wine. October 13th – White Cane Walk – Plan to walk to celebrate the independence of blind Americans! The President of the United States annually recognizes White Cane Day by the Blind Americans Equality Day Proclamation on October 15th to acknowledge the abilities of people who are blind and to promote equal opportunities as any other American. The mission of White Cane Day is to educate the world about blindness and how the blind and visually impaired can live and work independently while giving back to their communities. October 14th – Harvest Hustle 5K Lindale, presented by Longhorn Ford/Lonestar Dodge, will take place as part of the Lindale Countryfest, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the LISD Education Foundation. This starts in Downtown Lindale and goes through Trail Creek Farm, then on to the rural rolling hills of Iron Mountain Road and returns to Downtown Lindale. Stay after the race for all of the activities of “Countryfest” in Lindale. Admission fees are $25-$35. Register at lindalechamber.org.

October 14th – Tyler Faith Walk will be held at Woldert Park in Tyler, 8am-12 noon. This is presented by the East Texas Minority Health & Wellness Coalition. More info can be found at facebook.com/EastTexasMinorityHealth.

October 15th – Tyler Rose Half Marathon and 5K – The course will be open for 6 1/2 hours. This allows walkers to compete at a 15 minute per mile pace. It does not allow for long stops. October 21st (8am-12 noon) – Tyler Heart Walk and 5k Red Carpet Run will be held at Robert E. Lee Track and Field. Registration will start at 8am. The Tyler Heart Walk and 5k Red Carpet Run is held annually to help raise funds for the American Heart Association. Want to walk or have a team at the event? November 11th (7am) – Salute to Service 5K in Whitehouse – At this second annual event presented by Ameri-Tex Services, all proceeds will be benefitting a future Veterans Monument inspired by local war hero SSG Nelson D. Trent. Along with t-shirts and finisher medals there will also be cash prizes. Races will include a Veteran’s Physically Disabled Competitive, Teen’s Competitive, Women’s Competitive, Men’s Competitive, and a Family Fun Run. There will be activities and entertainment for all ages from bounce houses to booths set up for various organizations. March 24th, 2018 – Tyler Azalea 10k and 5k – The 17th Annual Tyler Azalea 10k and 5k is staged on one of most beautiful courses in Texas. A highlight of each spring season in East Texas is the 10-mile long Tyler Azalea Trail guiding visitors through neighborhoods of quaint brick streets, historic homes, and residential gardens filled with blooming azaleas, dogwoods, and tulips starting at Tyler’s Bergfeld Park. March 3rd – FRESH 15 – Registration is open for the 2018 FRESH 15. The race will start at FRESH by Brookshire’s in Tyler. The event features a 15K, 5K, and kids’ 1K, with all proceeds benefiting local charities. For more info and the register go to bgcracing.com.
