Community members looking for an evening filled with art, wine and music should look no further! The Tyler Innovation Pipeline is hosting a celebration and silent auction of the work of abstract artist, Kelly Gowan, on Nov. 9 from 5 to 8 p.m. Guests are invited to enjoy a glass of wine provided by 55 Winery and sway to an intimate acoustic performance by Simon Young at this ‘Wine & Rhythm’ evening mixer at the Tyler Innovation Pipeline, 217 E. Oakwood St.
Two community pieces created at the Paint with a Purpose Event on Oct. 14th will also be auctioned and proceeds from these paintings will be split between the American Cancer Society and Tyler Innovation Pipeline.
Twenty-five percent of silent auction proceeds will benefit the Tyler Innovation Pipeline, a place that ensures artists, makers and innovators in the community have a safe and welcoming space to network and create. Admission for the event is free. Parking is available on N. Spring St.
About the Artist:
In 2005, with two children in diapers, Kelly was diagnosed with Stage III HER2 positive ductal breast cancer and began the fight for her life. With Stage III breast cancer in her lymph nodes, with the most aggressive kind of breast cancer, the odds were high against her. After several surgeries, radiation, chemotherapy and the emotional, spiritual and physical turmoil associated in the battle with breast cancer, Kelly won her battle and came out on the other side with a new zest for life. The same year that Kelly was diagnosed, she had just opened her own staffing company but after beating breast cancer, she was determined to only live the life she loves. With her husband, Bo’s, support she began painting full-time and is loving every day of living her passion. Kelly and her family relocated from DFW to the piney woods of East Texas and are enjoying life in the community.
Kelly’s work is primarily abstract and many ties to the feelings, color, light, and movement of nature. The Tyler Innovation Pipeline is thrilled to host Kelly’s first showing in Tyler, TX, and are grateful to her for seeing all of the opportunity and potential the Tyler Innovation Pipeline has for the community and creating this event to support artists, makers, and innovators.
