BBB serving Central East Texas is hosting its Longview Secure Your ID Day on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the front parking lot of Austin Bank – Oak Forest (911 NW Loop 281, Longview, Texas 75604). The event is designed to help individuals and small businesses fight identity theft by offering free shredding services for up to three (3) boxes or bags of documents per vehicle. For this event BBB will be joined by partners; Austin Bank, Smallcakes Longview and Shred It.
This event is a follow-up to four events held earlier this year where BBB collectively helped the community shred over 28,150 pounds of paper. This translates to saving 242 trees and approximately 99,750 gallons of water not to mention the countless number of identities that were protected.
“Individuals and small businesses should be proactive in protecting their personal information and that of their clients”, said Kaylen Burgess, Community Outreach Specialist for BBB serving Central East Texas. “The first rule in identity protection is if you don’t need it, destroy it responsibly.”
Shred-It is generously donating their shredding services for the event. Shredder trucks and volunteers will be on hand to assist participants and hand out information on identity theft protection. Consumers are encouraged to attend the event and take a key step in identity protection by shredding and properly disposing of their sensitive paper documents.
BBB serving Central East Texas is part of an expansive network of BBBs across North America that collaborate to produce Secure Your ID Day events.
