Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King Festival Day Celebration

On behalf of the Empowerment Community Development Corporation, everyone is invited to the upcoming Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Dr. Coretta Scott King’s Day Celebration.

This will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the event venue, 309 West Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Tyler, Texas.

This event promises to be a day filled with free food, entertainment, and fellowship for the entire community.

Sheila and Jerry Johnson, aka “The Johnson Duo”, will join this event as hosts. Special performance by the Tyler-ISD Caldwell Arts Academy Drumline will also take place.

This is an event that brings together families, neighbors, and local leaders to honor the legacies of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Dr. Coretta Scott King through meaningful celebration and community spirit.

The day’s activities will also serve as a fundraiser aimed at supporting a crucial cause: raising $1,000 to build a water well in South Sudan.

This effort is particularly important, as South Sudan faces a severe water crisis, with many communities lacking access to clean drinking water. The water well initiative will not only provide much-needed clean water but will also have a profound impact on improving health, education, and economic opportunities in the region.

The following dignitaries will be honored, as well as several exceptional community leaders for their dedication to making a positive impact. These honorees include:

1. Dr. Carolyn Harvey for her work in fighting cancer.

2. Mayor Greg Davis of Moore Station, Texas.

3. Nansi Jaimes for empowering women in business and community leadership.

4. Casey Muze, a mental health expert who uses drumming for therapeutic healing.

5. Antwanise Jackson, a key figure in building the East Texas community through special events and business endeavors.

“As we aim to make this event a success, we are seeking Title Sponsors to help make our vision a reality. Your support will ensure we can continue to serve the community and contribute to impactful global initiatives like the water well project. Sponsorship opportunities are available at several levels, each offering great visibility and benefits for your company. We hope you will consider becoming a sponsor for this important event. Your partnership will not only help elevate this event but also demonstrate your commitment to making a difference in the lives of those in need, both locally and globally.”
