At HeARTS Found in Edom This Month:
Fun 1950’s Soc Hop, Classes & Workshops
Formed in 2018, HeARTS Found is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support and encouraging emotional healing through art, music, creative expression, culinary art, and gardening for individuals suffering with PTSD, pain, depression, grief, anxiety, stress, and/or fear in a safe, peaceful, and loving environment. HeARTS Found is located on 11-acres in the beautiful piney woods of East Texas in Edom where you can set aside life’s obligations and focus on your own health and well being. HeARTS Found has an art studio, woodshop, woods, pond, garden, and orchard where they host classes, workshops and retreats. HeARTS Found is 15 minutes west of Tyler, off Hwy. 64 in the Edom area. First Sunday each Month (3-5pm): Love Letters Journaling Class – Journaling is simply writing down your thoughts and feelings to understand them more clearly. If you struggle with stress, depression, or anxiety, keeping a journal can be very beneficial. “Love Letters” is an artistic journey through the heart, using fun and creative techniques. Class cost is $15. Supplies & refreshments are included.
Third Sunday each Month (3-6pm): Acrylic Whimsy Paint Class – Never put paint on a canvas? Would you like to? Come learn that you too can create an amazing painting that you would be proud to hang on your own wall. This class is a super good time, amazing fun, and memories that will last forever. The class costs $40. Supplies and refreshments are supplied.
Workshops are a 2-day experience held on Saturday-Sunday, 10am-4pm. To register, go to heartsfound.org.
- The HeART of Glass – This workshop is taught by glass fusion and mosaic artist, G, from Florida. After being a student and exploring the art of expression in fused glass for a decade, and participating in various shows, she has developed her whimsical style, and she is excited to share that knowledge with you. One ounce of fusions are included; additional fusions are sold for $6 an ounce. Two options for attending this workshop are available. Just the workshop is $250. The workshop package which includes the full workshop, two lunches, and one night lodging at a local retreat is $375.
- “Oh Snap! Poetry/Spoken Word” Workshop – Are you interested in becoming a wordsmith? Do you enjoy writing prose? Want to learn more about performing Spoken Word? Come and enjoy creating in a group setting where you are safe and encouraged to be free to express in this 2-day workshop. You will also learn how to get your work published. Workshops are held June 29th-30th, 10-4pm.
“1950’s Soc Hop” SweetHeART Dance
HeARTS Found is presenting their first annual SweetHeART Dance with a theme of “1950’s Soc Hop!” This will take place on February 16th, 7-10pm in Edom. Funds raised will go to further the mission of HeARTS Found.
“Ruffshod” will be performing your favorite 50’s dance tunes. Be sure to dress for the occasion. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners for the best costume! There will also be a buffet dinner, cash bar, 50/50 raffle, silent auction, and tons of dancing and fun.
Tickets are $50 for a couple and $35 or single tickets. For more information and tickets go to heartsfound.org.
HeARTS Fest is a festival celebrating our artists, musicians, supporters, volunteers, art and healing. There will be art, live music, food, and lots of fun! This will be held May 18th-19th, 10am-5pm. HeARTS Fest is an event centered on bringing together a community to celebrate the creative process. Admission to the festival will be $5.
Musicians scheduled are Kadie Lynn, Michael Gonzalez, Sheri Booth, and Ruffshod. There will be an Acoustic Songwriter Circle open throughout the festival. All musicians welcome.
They are currently seeking volunteers, artists, musicians, food vendors, and art vendors. Applications are available at heartsfound.org. Proceeds to benefit the mission of HeARTS Found.
