The National Trust for Historic Preservation has played a major role in leading preservation efforts since 1973 and is now encouraging everyone to celebrate Preservation Month through the “This Place Matters” campaign. The goal of the campaign is to highlight places that matter the most to each one of us. More information can be found by visiting https://savingplaces.org/.
The City of Tyler will be highlighting through the #ThisPlaceMatters social media campaign the importance of preserving Tyler’s local history. Other focuses include explaining the landmark designation process, showcasing local landmarks and districts and promoting the benefits of historic preservation within our community.
“Tyler has a rich cultural history and beautiful historic structures and places,” said Planning Director Kyle Kingma, AICP. “We have the fortunate obligation to communicate the need to continue local preservation efforts so that future generations can experience Tyler’s unique sense of place.”
