October 13th: Tyler Scottish Festival & Highland Games

The 3rd annual celebration of Celtic heritage is October 13th, 10am-6pm at South Spring Baptist Church, 17002 Hwy. 69 S., Tyler. Admission is free.

From clan history to highland games, there’s something fun for everyone! Grab your kilt and come see the highland dancers, bagpipes, highland athletic competitions, food, and fun for all ages.

Highland Games will include Braemar Stone (8:30am), Open Stone (9:15am), 56# Weight for Distance (10am), 28# Weight for Distance (11am), Lunch Break and Kids Highland Games, Caber Toss (1pm), Hammer Toss (2pm), Sheaf Toss (3pm), 56# WOB (4pm), and Scoring and Awards (5pm). Registration for Highland athletes is $30 and includes a t-shirt.

Entertainment will be The DramBeauties, Kilty as Charged Pipers featuring Paul Watson and Matt Bowdin, The Dallas Highland Dancers, Charles Gunn Jr., and special guests this year, Twice Upon a Time Celtic Story Tellers.

Come and see all the exhibitors demonstrating sheep herding as done on the Scottish plains, War Horses large enough for only William Wallace to ride, Shetland Ponies from the outer Hebrides Islands, Highland Cows, plus a Blacksmith will be fashioning Highland knives, Falconers, and much more.
