Donation Opportunities Now Available for “Send A Kid to Camp” Grants

The Tyler Parks and Recreation Department offers an eight-week summer camp at Glass Recreation Center for children ages 6 to 12 years old.

The camp will begin Monday, June 13 through Friday, Aug. 5 at a cost of $200 per camper.

This year, the Glass Recreation Center, with the help of generous donors, created the Send a Kid to Camp grant. This grant will provide kids the opportunity to attend the Glass Summer Camp free of charge.

Donations will provide a child with a fun summer experience and ensure daily breakfast and lunch for selected kids.

Families in need that would like to participate in this program will have to fill out an application through the Glass Recreation Center to see if they are eligible to receive the grant.

“The camp is designed to have children engage in a structured environment that provides a variety of educational and safe recreational activities,” said Staci Lara, Glass Recreation Center supervisor. “We are proud to be able to offer a grant for kids who may otherwise not be able to participate in events like these.”
