TJC Science Center Joins Rose City Airfest for Aviation Events

 

The TJC Science Center featuring Hudnall Planetarium will join Visit Tyler and Rose City Airfest for Week of Flight, set Tuesday-Saturday, Oct. 1-5.

“We are thrilled to be a part of this exhilarating partnership with Visit Tyler and the Rose City Airfest for an unforgettable week of events,” said Dr. Beau Hartweg, TJC science center director. “Prepare to be captivated by a series of flight-themed programs that will ignite your curiosity about the cosmos and the wonders of aviation.”

Science center dome shows

  • “Flight Adventures” (noon Tuesday-Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday) — a children’s show that promises to inspire the next generation of explorers
  • “Spooky Space” (1 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and noon Saturday) — audiences meet popular Halloween characters and their spooky counterparts in space
  • “Asteroid: Mission Extreme” (1 p.m. Saturday) — an epic journey discovering the potential that asteroids present to facilitate manned space travel
  • “Forward! To the Moon” (2 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday) — for those who dream of lunar adventures
  • “Space: The New Frontier” (3 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday) — the center’s latest dome show that takes audiences on a journey through the stars
  • “To Space and Back” (4 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday) — an extraordinary story of human ingenuity and engineering, describing how the technology that transports us through space is paving the way for the devices and apps we use every day

Hartweg added, “We will cap off the week with a free Star Party from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, where visitors can gaze through telescopes and marvel at the night sky. This is a unique opportunity for families and educators alike to dive into the thrilling realms of flight and space.”

About the TJC science center

Science center hours are noon-4:30 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.

Single show tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children, students and seniors (ages 65 and up). Day passes are also available for $12 for adults and $9 for children, students and seniors.

Field trips are available 9:30-11:45 a.m. Tuesday-Friday for $100, and online reservations are required.

The science center is located at 1411 E. Lake St., on the TJC central campus. Parking is free.
