Gear up to read this December with Tyler Public Library’s annual Winter Reading Challenge and event kickoff! Visit the Library on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to sign up for the reading challenge, shop a variety of local vendors, play life-size Candyland: Steampunk Edition, and take on the challenges of the Library Llama Steampunk Trading Card Game for a chance to win prizes.

Free cocoa will be provided, or stop by Tom’s Travelling Coffee Truck to purchase a coffee or tea. Candyland will feature both candy rewards and non-candy rewards for kids. Last but not least, kids can visit Steampunk Santa from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. only during the event.

Dec. 2 marks the first day of the reading challenge, which will wrap up on Jan. 13. Sign up or log reading at tpl.beanstack.org. Children ages zero to Grade 12 are challenged to read for six hours and will receive a free book and be automatically entered into a raffle drawing for their age category upon completion. Adults are challenged to read three books and will receive a free book coupon for use in the Library’s Book Nook and be automatically entered into a raffle drawing for the adult category upon completion.

Once a child or adult completes the challenge, they may pick up their free book or free book coupon at the information desk. Show Library staff the Beanstack app or confirmation email showing completion. Raffle winners will be notified after the challenge ends on Jan. 13.

Thank you for the support of our Friends of the Tyler Public Library group for funding books, prizes, and more for this event and reading challenge!
