Today I got to revisit one of my favorite little spots in East Texas. Vienmex – Asian Fusion Street Food . I made sure to bring my entire family and a few of my sons friends so they could experience it as well.
They recently expanded their menu and I knew I had to try it all. We were not disappointed in the slightest bit.
As always, the service is top-notch. You’ll never find a waitress with more energy than Ellie!!! She’s always super friendly and welcoming.
We ended up ordering a ton of food. 4 of their mini monster trays (2 of them had slight variations). The separate items we ordered from their new menu were the BBQ pulled pork chimichanga, BBQ pulled pork tacos, bang bang sauce tacos, and the loaded fries. This time I had to order the jalapeño poppers, as well as both of their egg rolls (southwest and pork).
We also ordered every dessert they made!!! Raspberry cheesecake chimichanga, ice cream churro cake, churro bites, viet banana split, and the roasted coconut pineapple fried ice cream.
You can’t go wrong with anything that comes on the mini monster trays and my entire family will back me on that.
The first dish from the new menu that I tried was the pulled pork chimichanga. I instantly fell in love after one bite. The pork had a smoky flavor to it. Mixed with their house sauces and the rice; a match made in heaven.
The bang bang shrimp tacos had a slight sweetness to them, but they were still incredible. Same with the bbq pulled pork tacos – so unique in their own ways.
Everyone at the table really enjoyed the jalapeño poppers. It was refreshing to see a different twist on such a popular menu item.
The loaded fries were in a category of their own. Perfectly cooked fries loaded up with their tender meat and various sauces. An absolute explosion of flavor with every bite (one of my son’s exact words haha).
Now for the desserts! Everyone at the table would take a bite and pass each dessert around. They were all so good, but there were a few that came out on top.
The roasted coconut pineapple fried ice cream was everyone’s favorite for sure, with the viet banana split coming in a close second. The ice cream churro cake and the raspberry cheesecake chimichangas were right behind in a tie for third. Each dessert definitely had something that stood out from the others in their own way. I highly recommend trying them all!
If you take my advice on anything, let it be this. Make the short drive to Lindale and try their crazy and unique creations for yourself. I promise you won’t regret it. The owners themselves are amazing people who love helping the community and I can’t recommend them enough.
