Food News: New Restaurants, New Things to Try

A lot is happening in the food-scene in #tylertx. Check out these new locations, expansions, new menu items and more.

Tea fix, upgraded: Whether you’re restocking the loose-leaf stash or finally giving matcha a real shot, Lone Star Botanicals stocks organic herbs, teas, and superfoods from a family-operated crew. Grab calming blends like Dream or Be Well, then head home feeling a little extra zen.

Sip-worthy speakeasy vibes: Houdini’s Bar & Lounge nails the cozy, low-light mood with carefully crafted cocktails and shareable bites. When you want a grown-up hang in South Tyler, this spot turns weeknights into little disappearances, minus the chaos.

Ruby’s adds a South Tyler spot: South Tyler is getting another local spot to add to the rotation. Rubys Mexican Restaurant plans to open a new location in June at 15902 County Road. The exact grand opening date is still under wraps, with a spokesperson promising more info soon. If your dinner debates usually lead to chips, salsa, and a table everyone agrees on, consider this welcome news. Here is what we know so far — get the opening details.

Feeding kids when school’s out – School cafeterias take a break, but hunger does not. The East Texas Food Bank is launching its Summer Food Program at Tyler’s Glass Recreation Center on June 2, aiming to serve over 100,000 meals to nearly 5,000 kids. It is a simple plan with a big impact, and it could use a little local attention. If you want the what, where, and why, the full rundown is worth a look — read the full story.

Cool Off This Summer with a New Local Favorite – Nothing says summer quite like a scoop of ice cream! This month we’re giving a local shoutout to Milk & Honey Artisan Ice Cream in Tyler’s Mosaic District. Located next to True Vine Brewing Company, Milk & Honey crafts its ice cream in-house using honest ingredients and creative flavors that keep locals and visitors coming back for more. It’s the perfect stop for a sweet treat on a warm East Texas day. Find your next favorite flavor
