Tyler Public Library Building Community Ofrenda for Día de los Muertos
Photos, handmade flowers and special memories will come together at Tyler Public Library as the community helps build an ofrenda to honor loved ones who have passed.
The Library will host the event on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the first floor. Participants can make paper cempasúchil flowers, decorate picture frames for loved ones and learn about traditions associated with Día de los Muertos.
The program will also explore the days leading up to Nov. 2 and traditions used to remember pets, children, family members and other loved ones who have passed away.
Library patrons are encouraged to bring a photo of someone they would like to honor and add it to the community ofrenda. Staff will be available during the event to help print black-and-white photos for those who need one.
Those who cannot attend the Oct. 24 event can still participate. The community ofrenda will remain on display through Día de los Muertos, giving visitors an opportunity to stop by the Library and add a photo, memory or special tribute.
The Tyler Public Library is located at 201 S. College Ave. For more information about the Library and upcoming events, visit TylerLibrary.com.
