On June 21, music won’t be confined to concert halls and stages. It will spill onto patios, into parks, across downtown sidewalks, and throughout the community as Tyler joins thousands of cities around the world in celebrating Make Music Day.
This free, all-day celebration transforms everyday places into spaces for music, connection, and creativity. Whether you’re listening to a local songwriter over lunch, stumbling across an acoustic performance while shopping downtown, joining a community jam session, or cheering on musicians in the park, Make Music Day invites everyone to experience the joy of live music in a new way.
As an official Texas Music Friendly Community, Tyler continues to embrace the power of music to bring people together. This year’s celebration features performances from local artists at venues across the city.
“One of the things I love most about Make Music Day is that it turns the entire city into a stage,” said Kristen Cruz, Co-Chair of Make Music Day Tyler. “You don’t need a ticket. You don’t need a reserved seat. You simply show up and enjoy music alongside your neighbors. It’s one of the few events where a professional musician, a student performer, a local business owner, and a first-time audience member all get to be part of the same experience.”
To add your performance, simply click the button and “Create an Account,” then let us know where your live music will be performed.
What makes Make Music Day different is that participation is encouraged. Businesses can host performances. Musicians can sign up to play. Community groups can join the fun. Residents can discover music in unexpected places throughout the city. The result is a day that feels less like a festival and more like a citywide celebration of creativity, community, and connection.
Originally launched in France as Fête de la Musique, Make Music Day now takes place in more than 2,000 cities across 120 countries each year on the summer solstice. Tyler is proud to be part of that global movement while showcasing the unique talent, culture, and community spirit that make East Texas special.
There’s still time to get involved. Musicians, venues, businesses, and community organizations are encouraged to participate and help make this year’s celebration the biggest yet.
