Mariscos Los Chochos Fieruss is one of my go-to spots for incredible Mexican food and honestly, I’ve never had a bad experience there, unless you count being so full I needed a nap shortly after.
Today, I decided to shake things up. After seeing a recent food post from their facebook page, I knew I had to switch it up and live a little.

It all started with their chips and salsa. Right away, I noticed the salsa was different. Suspiciously different. But in a good way, like when your friend finally gets a haircut and you realize, “Oh wow, you were ugly before.”

Although I was a big fan of how they used to make it, this new version somehow had me falling in love all over again. The owner later told me they had changed it up a couple of months ago. A bold move, but clearly it paid off.
Even though I promised myself I’d order all new things, I couldn’t resist getting their queso again. Some habits die hard, especially when that habit is some of the best queso in East Texas. I mean, come on, I’m only human.

After carefully weighing my options, I landed on the Torre De Mariscos (the seafood tower), and let me tell you, aside from being an explosion of flavor in my mouth, it looked like a culinary masterpiece. Honestly, it was almost too pretty to eat……almost.

It was loaded with all kinds of seafood, fresh veggies, topped with avocado, and it sat in this zesty sauce that had hints of citrus and some other mystery ingredient I couldn’t quite figure out (possibly magic).

It came with warm, crispy tostadas that whispered “You’re going to need more napkins.” I can’t even begin to describe how much I enjoyed it, but if joy had a flavor, it would taste like that seafood tower.
